About SLiDE

Co-founded in 2013 by Gemma Coldicott and Anita Wadsworth, SLiDE is built on over eight years of collaboration and partnership with local residents, education settings and organisations.

We strive to remove barriers to participation in dance faced by learning disabled people, addressing power imbalances. Our wider aim is to bring disabled and non-disabled people together through dance. We engage with the wider community, uniting diverse groups through our classes, performance projects and social events (ceilidhs and discos).

“I can honestly say that it was one of the most uplifting and moving performances I have seen in a long time. I was totally engaged from the first movement to the last note, as was everyone else who had the privilege of experiencing such a motivational performance.” Michelle Groves, audience member <Insert title here> 2018, Director of Education (Royal Academy of Dance)
